U.S. Supreme Court declines appeal on stem cell research

The Supreme Court in the case of Sherley v. Sibelius declined a petition (petition here) for Writ of Cert letting stand the decision of the D.C. Circuit (decision here) upholding the actions of the National Institute for Health in approving funding of embryonic stem cells. Petitioners brought this case in response to President Obama`s March 9, 2009, Executive Order, the NIH published and noticed for public comment regulatory guidelines allowing federal funds to be used for the creation of new stem cell lines (hESC) and the destruction of living human embryos.
