CALI Bans Hotmail Email Accounts & Schedules Maintenance

The Center for Computer Assisted Legal Education, CALI, is a consortium of nearly all US law schools offering legal instruction with the help of technology by providing lessons, webinars, e-books, and more. For all of you using CALI, please be aware of the following two announcements:

CALI has banned all Hotmail Email Accounts

Due to a near-site killing influx of spammers and other internet ne’er-do-wells using Hotmail, we’ve had to ban all CALI.org accounts that are affiliated with a Hotmail email address.  Unfortunately, this will cause a number of legitimate registered CALI.org users to be banned from our system.  This is a small percentage of our total users, but still a decent amount of people.  If you have a student or faculty member unable to log onto the CALI.org website, add “ask them if they use Hotmail” to your trouble-shooting checklist.

So, if you have trouble logging into your CALI account and you were using Hotmail email address, there are two options for you:

  1. You can contact CALI at webmaster@CALI.org and provide them with a new, non-Hotmail, email address that you wish to use. CALI will manually switch the email address on your account. Note, that this option may take some time (as it is done manually) but you will be able to access your existing account and its content with the new email address.
  2. You may want to re-register and create a new account. Note, that if you chose this option, your access to CALI may be restored much quicker but you will lose access to your previous account and its content. Also, you will need the CALI authorization code, which for Pace law community can be access on TWEN – Law Library on TWEN – Passwords.

CALI is scheduled for a web maintenance on Sunday Sept. 2., 2012

We will be performing routine maintenance of the CALI website on Sunday September 2, 2012 from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM ET. This means that the CALI website will not be available between 8:00 AM ET and 12:00 PM ET. You will not have access to CALI Lessons and other resources during the duration of the maintenance period. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. if you have questions or concerns about this planned downtime, please contact emasters@cali.org.

Here, there also are two options available to you:

  1. Don’t plan on completing CALI lessons online during the scheduled maintenance time.
  2. Use the CALI disk instead, if you need to. CALI disks can be picked up at the Pace Law Library Reference Desk.
