The Italian Minster of Health approved the use of an unproven stem cell therapy under regulations that allow for experimental drugs (story here) to be used by those who are dying and have no other alternatives.  This approval led to a response by a number of European scientists who expressed their concerns in a Letter to the Italian Minister.
